The real circular economy journey begins when a bottle is disposed. A vast network of people who pick this trash up form a crucial link in the chain. India has as an informal economy and a sea of agents and aggregators at this stage alone. We realised that the key to meaningful impact was establishing a more stable supply chain and a circular recycling industry.
At Dalmia, forming stronger relationships with our team on the ground is integral to our work. Our collectors, aggregators and processors receive fair wages with benefits and incentives, we constantly innovate to build these bonds in meaningful and impactful ways. We believe that to really go places, you need to take people along with you.
ENVIRONMENT
We repurpose 1 billion plastic bottles annually.
Let’s be honest with you, the global consumption of plastic is not going to stop any time soon. We are at a stage where consumption is far outpacing our efforts to negate them. Plastics don’t have to necessarily mean virgin plastics, recycled and renewable plastics will have to be the way forward. We’ve come to realise that clean ups are not enough to address the enormity of the challenge. Plastic needs to be given a second life. Dalmia doesn’t want to shrug off the problem, we want to change the nature of the conversation and be part of the solution. Plastic has more than one life, and it doesn’t have to land up in a landfill or the ocean.
